Windows XP User Accounts Log Off/On Error

After installing Intel Wireless Drive/Program, i got this error.. Im thinking its because i selected the Single SignOn Option to be installed. Anyway, after i installed, i get the old classic looking Login/Logout Screen with drop down menu to Shutdown, etc and not the pretty Button based Shutdown. so i went to Control Panel, User Accounts and clicked no Change the Way Users Logon Logoff, and got this error

"A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast User
Switching. To restore these features, you must unistall the program. The
following name might help you identify the program that made the change:
iwpdgina.dll"

To fix this, download this fix. then unzip it and run the exe file located inside. It will prompt you to fix, click on Fix/Restore and try to Shutdown, it will show you the pretty screen again :P

Nokia 5800 Memory Card problems

here are a few problems you might encounter with your memory card (8GB) which comes with the phone :(
- frequent hangs
- slowdown of phone often
- couldn't start phone (just hangs at the hand shake logo)
- can't refresh the music library
- missing files when using storage mode (after you copy some files over using storage mode), will happen when you disconnect (even when you safely remove the hardware)
- can't detect memory card
- seeing funny characters as your filename...
- and countless others :P

well there is a way you can try to revive back the memory card. by doing scandisk to the memory card. it would take around 5-10mins usually. you can follow instructions here or you can use an SD card fit/adapter (to plug in the micro SD if you don't have the micro SD reader). see picture below for an example of SD card adapter (ignore the brand :P )

WARNING: you may lose some data in the process of scandisk... so backup!

Tilt your Windows XP screen

i just found this cool shortcut while playing around windows xp. try press Ctrl+Alt then press the down arrow/right/left/up arrow. you will notice the screen will tilt left, right, etc... very cool feature if you want to show your screen around :P

SmartCam for 5800

heres a nice program to enable your phone as a webcam, when connected to the PC. there are two ways to use it, just use the bluetooth (the other method is Wifi).

install the .exe file inside the zip into your PC (Windows) using this file (SmartCam). after installing, install the .sis file into your phone.

run the installed application from the PC (remember to turn on bluetooth, and you may need to pair the phone with your PC beforehand), and from the phone just select Options, Connect, Bluetooth and it will install the neccessary drivers and turn on the camera of your phone, and turn it into a webcam. simple as that.

if your PC doesn't have bluetooth, run the application that you installed on the PC. go to File, Settings, Connection, TCP/IP (Wifi) and see if the settings for Port is Port:9361. then go to the Phone and run the application, then go to Options, Connect, TCP/IP (Wifi). It will prompt for Server Name, enter your PC IP address. you can get your IP Address from Start, Run, type in cmd and press Enter, then type ipconfig, and press Enter. look for Local Area Connection section, and look for IP Address (which will look like 192.168.1.X or 10.1.1.X for example). enter that number exactly, and continue. it will then prompt you to connect to the Internet, just select your WIFI to connect. thats it!

why i would recommend a scan or two? well, their website are always updated with the latest signature and virus scanning patterns, so if your PC or laptop is idle, why not just let them scan it for you :P

download Microsoft Live Writer and install it. when asked what to install, you can choose to install all the components, or just select Live Writer to install only one component.

after finishing installation, run it, and it will ask you for your blog website address. enter it, together with your username and password. then click on Next and everything will be setup automatically. after finishing this process, an empty page for new thread will appear. its the same as the normal page on the blogging website (with title and text body field), but now, all the basic functions such as adding pictures, url, video, tables, maps are available from the right hand side buttons. quite simple actually.
