Nokia 5800 Memory Card problems

here are a few problems you might encounter with your memory card (8GB) which comes with the phone :(
- frequent hangs
- slowdown of phone often
- couldn't start phone (just hangs at the hand shake logo)
- can't refresh the music library
- missing files when using storage mode (after you copy some files over using storage mode), will happen when you disconnect (even when you safely remove the hardware)
- can't detect memory card
- seeing funny characters as your filename...
- and countless others :P

well there is a way you can try to revive back the memory card. by doing scandisk to the memory card. it would take around 5-10mins usually. you can follow instructions here or you can use an SD card fit/adapter (to plug in the micro SD if you don't have the micro SD reader). see picture below for an example of SD card adapter (ignore the brand :P )

WARNING: you may lose some data in the process of scandisk... so backup!

  3. i had gone for a vacation leavin my nokia 5800 at home but carryin the 8gb memory card in the traditional memory card plastic box(the one you get when you buy a new card).. It so happened that when i returned a month later.. Charged my nokia 5800 and inserted the memory card.. The fone gets very very slow and fails t read the card. I dont understand what the problem is.↲
even the beep sound when you enter the memory card is also missin. When i go t file manager .. It says no memory card detected. I have tried using a memory card reader.. 13. i tried scandisk several times i formatted several times i defragmented several times, nothing helps :( :( :( my files constantly keep disappearing... have no access to some folders trought PC, slow downs of phone, music library doesn't refresh it shows "Searching for Music" like forever... or when refresh it shows me about 3 or 4 songs of my 400 songs collection.. some apps disappear whenever they want to, freshly downloaded (WLAN) or received (BT) files showing the error "File corrupted" when try to open them, the card formats itself etc... and i just can't take it anymore, this just had me pissed off!! It's like that for about last 2 months and i don't know what to do, seems like i'll panic... first i thought it was the phone - it's not the phone itself, because when i try to install smthing on the card it almost finish the install process and shows me "Installation Failed" or smthing and when i try to install exactly the same file on the Phone memory, it just installs it flawless, without any bugs errors and bla bla and it works perfectly after that...

  14. maybe it's just too old i don't know... i have it for a year and a half maybe.... Kingston's are good i know, but here in Czech Republic they are pretty expensive (smthing like 40 euros) it is expensive having on mind that for a 600 euros you can buy a BMW E36 325i coupe :D funny eh ? :)

  15. haha dude, you sure its original kingston? i remember kingston has 5 years warranty. if u have problems with it, i would suggest to ask kingston about it. you can go its website to enquire more. hope this helps.

  16. so... A litle update on the situation, what i've done is: transfered all data to my pc, formated, checked for errors, defragmented, returned the data to the sd and defragmented again.. So this method works for shure, but the bad part is that you have to do this monthly, otherwise it srcews-up again.. Maybe you can do it not so often, i do it monthly because my sd is on big presure (big file transfers, very often) so that's it if you don't want to buy yourself new one and save your nerves... Hope i've been helpfull...
