before updating your firmware, backup your phone using instructions from here
you can download and install it by going to Menu, Settings, Phone, Phone Mgmt, Device Updates, Options, Check Updates. or dial *#0000# to go to the Device Updates page :P (shortcut)
just follow the instructions and accept the default settings and it will ask to reboot. after reboot, it will update the phone firmware, and after finishing, will reboot for the last time, and WALA! now you're on firmware v21.
note: when i tried, the Nokia Software Updater still havent provide V21 firmware update yet... only through 3G connection or WIFI connection (or any other phone Internet connection) will it allow you to update.
it will take approximately 3-4 minutes to complete the update. the firmware is around 3MB to download, so will take a few minutes again :P
oh and if you're still on V12, you can still update straight to V21... no problemo!
